I had a wonderful stay at Sutera Sanctuary Lodges Manukan Island Resort, where the luxury set against the beautiful backdrop was a treat after my travels. The staff was exceptionally welcoming, and the rooms offered stunning views. The only downside was the boat company for island hopping; they could use a little customer service training. Overall, it's an excellent place for a quiet vacation with fantastic food and exclusive beach areas.

8.0/10

I had a lovely stay at the resort, enjoying the comfort and spaciousness of the room along with friendly service from the staff. The location by the beach was great, but there were some challenges with beach visibility and a bit of rubbish in the water. Despite that, the dining experience was exceptional with great food options. Just be prepared to deal with some minor inconveniences, like Wi-Fi that can be a bit spotty.

Rooms
8.0
The room was beautifully decorated and extremely clean, providing a good shower and a few complimentary drinks that were refreshed every day.
Service
9.0
The service was top-notch; the staff were very welcoming, assisting us from the booking phase through to our farewells.
Location
7.0
The resort is ideally located overlooking the beach, although our area was on the day-tripper side, which detracted from the privacy and view.
Dining
9.0
The dining experience was fantastic, with a big variety of food and excellent quality, definitely worth the payment for the meals.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were adequate; however, not every amenity was outstanding, especially with occasional rubbish washed up on the beach.

9.6/10

My stay at Sutera Sanctuary Lodges Manukan Island Resort was absolutely delightful! The beach, clear waters, and the resort's hospitality were top-notch. The only downside was some litter left by day-trippers on the beach. Overall, it was a memorable trip with fantastic service and a stunning location.

The resort is beautifully situated on a private beach that felt very exclusive, especially once the day trippers left. The surrounding natural beauty is just stunning.
Dining

Dining was a joy with delicious meals, from breakfast to dinner. The options were varied, but I would have loved a few more fruit juice selections.

8.0/10

Manukan Island Resort offers a lovely stay with charming hillside villas featuring spectacular views. The welcoming staff and good dining experiences truly enhance the visit. However, daytime visitors do crowd the beaches, and the visibility for snorkeling is below expectations. Overall, it's a great spot for a short escape, particularly if you appreciate beautiful scenery and attentive service.

Rooms
8.0
The hillside villas were very nice, spacious, and well-appointed, although the walk to get to them involved some uphill trekking.
Service
10.0
The staff were attentive and made us feel like VIPs from the moment we arrived, offering excellent service throughout our stay.
Location
7.0
While the location provides stunning views, the proximity to Kota Kinabalu means the island gets busy with day visitors, affecting the serene atmosphere.
Dining
8.0
The dining experiences were quite enjoyable, with reasonably priced and tasty food options, although there could be more organization during peak times.
Facilities
7.0
Facilities were good overall, but the beach could use more attention regarding cleanliness, especially with litter left by day visitors.

7.2/10

The resort offers a stunning backdrop with beautiful villas overlooking the beach, perfect for families. The spacious and clean rooms ensure comfort, yet there's room for improvement in service speed and the dining menu variety. While the beach location is idyllic, daytime crowds from day-trippers can detract from the experience. Overall, the resort provides a lovely escape, though some aspects could use fine-tuning.

Rooms
8.0
My villa was spacious and clean with a fantastic view of the beach. It had a large bathroom and comfortable living areas, although maintenance on small details could be better.
Service
6.0
While the staff were accommodating and responsive, the room service was quite slow, which was frustrating during our stay.
Location
7.0
Located on a semi-private island, the resort offers beautiful beach access. However, the area can get quite busy with day tourists during the daytime.
Dining
7.0
The restaurant had a decent menu with good food, but I felt there could be more variety, especially for vegetarian options.
Facilities
8.0
The amenities were well-maintained, providing a relaxing atmosphere, but they could enhance offerings to cater more to families.
